Thoughts on micro-segmenting territories (i.e., breaking up California by City Name or Area Code?)
Hi Everyone,
Do any of you have any feedback on breaking up the ownership of a State or Region (in this case, California) by either City or Area Code? I'm looking to split up the territorial ownership of CA between two reps and I'm looking for the most efficient way to do this. Thanks in advance!

Hi Andrew, We've done this in the past with USPS provided list of Zip Codes and LeanData routing rules. Email me at danita.fleck@gigamon.com and i can send you our Excel divided NorCal vs SoCal. Thanx! Danita

Here is the United States Postal Service (USPS) Zip Code download link: http://www.unitedstateszipcodes.org/zip-code-database/ In addition to the USPS, there are many vendors who provide up-to-date data for a very small amount of money.

Hey Andrew - Danita is right on the money here, and love the share of the USZC data base.
There are some customers who get down as granular as the City/Postal Code combination, especially when you have large regions like California, Texas, or dense areas like New York, to make distribution fair across the teams.
One example I saw that used this was for Northern California counties, the customer determined the Postal Codes in each, and then the Cities for each of the Postal Codes, and distributed San Mateo County to 3 reps, and San Francisco County to 2 etc.
The beauty with Territory Manager is with the larger states, you can do this granular breakdown and for others, have them distribute at the State level itself.
Let us know if you need some examples and we can compile some things for you!
Cheers-
