Adding a Hidden Field in Pardot

Have more questions? Submit a request

To link LeanData's routing and scheduling process to the leads or contacts created through your Pardot form, you'll need to add a hidden field to your form using the steps below. This hidden field stores the BookIt Log ID that will later be passed to the Salesforce record via your marketing automation platform.

If you already have a custom method to accomplish this, feel free to skip this guide and use the approach that best fits your workflow.

Step 1 : Create a Prospect Field in Pardot

Start by creating a new Prospect field in Pardot that maps to a field on your Salesforce Lead or Contact object.

  • You can name this field anything you'd like, but we recommend setting the Custom Field ID to: ld_bookit_log_id for consistency. This field will store the LeanData BookIt Log ID, which is used to associate the form submission with the routed record.
  • Set the Sync Behavior to Use Account Engagement's Value
🛠️ Make note of the Custom Field ID — you’ll need it when updating the BookIt script later.

Step 2 : Add the Hidden Field to Your Pardot Form

In the Pardot form builder, add a new field to your form:

  • Label: You can use any label you'd like — this is not shown to the user.
  • Prospect Field: Select the field you created in Step 1
  • Type:  Set this to Hidden
  • Data Format: Choose Text
  • ✅  Required: Ensure this box is checked.

Next, click on the Advanced tab and make sure the following option is selected:

  • Always display even if previously completed - This ensures the hidden field is always available for LeanData’s script to populate, even if the visitor has filled out the form before.

💡 This hidden field will be used to store the BookIt Log ID behind the scenes during form submission
