How to exclude the LeanData Integration User from Salesforce Duplicate & Validation Rules

 

Duplicate Rule

A duplicate rule in Salesforce defines what happens when a user attempts to create or modify a record with duplicates. Salesforce provides standard duplicate rules for business and person accounts, contacts, and leads. You can also create duplicate rules.

 

Validation Rule

Organizations use validation rules within Salesforce to improve the quality of data. Validation rules verify that the data a user enters in a record meets the standards you specify before the user can save the record. These validation rules will also apply when attempting to modify records that may have existed before your validation rule.

 

How Duplicate / Validation Rules Affect LeanData

When there are active Duplicate Rules and Validation Rules within your instance, it can prevent LeanData from completing its actions. Excluding the LeanData Integration User from these Duplicate or Validation rules can allow LeanData to bypass these rules.

 

Excluding the LeanData Integration User from Duplicate / Validation Rules

If you would like to set up an exclusion please follow the following steps:

1. Go to Salesforce Setup and search for Duplicate Rules or go find the validation rule you wish to edit in your Object Manager.
2. Click into the specific Duplicate Rule / Validation Rule you would like to add an exclusion for.
3. Click Edit
4. Under the Conditions section, create a condition that excludes your LeanData Integration User from the rule.

• • • Under Field, select Current User: Username
      • You may select a different Current User: _____ field if desired, such as Current User: Alias, or Current User: Email
    • Under Operator: select not equal to
    • Under Value: enter the Username for the LeanData Integration User. This is typically in the form of an email address.

If you have other rules, you will need to include this exclusion rule with an AND condition along with you other rules.

Please note: this exclusion will not work for Scheduled One-Time Routing Jobs that are initiated by anyone other than the Integration User.
