When integrating LeanData to one of our partner companies like Outreach, Salesloft, or Slack you may see this error. What does this error mean?

Salesforce requires access to Remote Site Settings in order to establish outgoing traffic to Partners. To resolve this, please try the following options:

  • Option 1: Ask your Salesforce Administrator to manually create the Remote Site Setting required for the partner.
  • Option 2: Ask your Salesforce Administrator to temporarily provide the “Modify Metadata through Metadata API” permission to you. Note that Salesforce requires this access for every new authorization established.
  • Option 3: If your Salesforce Administrator has a login for the Partner account, such as an Outreach Login, have them authorize the App in LeanData.

Why does my Salesforce Administrator need to enable the Modify Metadata through Metadata API permission for authorization?

Salesforce requires access to this permission to establish outgoing traffic to Partners. The permission gives LeanData the ability to create Remote Site Settings for each Partner, similar to a firewall whitelist.

What Remote Site Settings will LeanData create?

LeanData will create Remote Site Settings for your Salesforce Organization and for the Partner authorized. For example, if you authorize Slack, LeanData will create an RSS for your Salesforce Org and Slack.
