Overview
Records may fail to merge during routing for several reasons. When this happens, a red merge error message appears in the upper-right corner under the Outcome column in your Audit Logs. Each message specifically indicates the root cause of the error.
This guide will outline common merge errors and how to troubleshoot them.
Common Merge Errors
Error (Merge): Dedupe Disabled in 1x Routing
When creating a One-Time Routing Job, if the selected FlowBuilder Graph utilizes Merge Duplicate nodes, you will need to toggle the Merge Duplicates setting to Yes as shown in the screenshot below.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Create a new One-Time Routing Job and toggle the Merge Duplicates setting to Yes.
Error (Merge): Current merge settings prevent Contacts from different Accounts to be merged
The way your Merge Settings are configured can directly impact whether or not your Merge Duplicate nodes are successful during routing. In LeanData, you can set up Merge Settings for the Contact object in the Duplicate Preferences section of the Contacts tab.If this setting is enabled and Contacts from different Accounts attempt to merge, this error will appear.
Troubleshooting Steps
-
Disable the Only Merge Contacts from the Same Account setting.
-
Alternatively, update the Contacts' Accounts accordingly within your FlowBuilder graph prior to the Duplicate Merge node.
Error (Merge): You're creating a duplicate record. We recommend you use an existing record instead.
Active Salesforce Duplicate Rules and Validation Rules in your instance can prevent LeanData from completing its actions. These rules control what happens when users try to create or modify records that may be duplicates.
Since LeanData needs to merge records with their duplicates, your Salesforce Duplicate Rules may interfere with this process.
When this happens, you'll see "Error (Merge):" followed by your Salesforce Duplicate Rule error message in your audit logs. See the example below:
Troubleshooting Steps
-
To allow LeanData to bypass these rules, you can exclude the LeanData Integration User from the Duplicate or Validation rules. See this article for step-by-step instructions: How to exclude the LeanData Integration User from Salesforce Duplicate & Validation Rules
