LeanData is Not Showing a Recently Created Field

Overview

When working in LeanData, users may occasionally encounter an issue where they cannot find a field that was recently created in their Salesforce instance. This typically occurs because the LeanData interface needs to refresh its metadata to recognize and display newly created fields.

These issues most commonly come up in the following scenarios:

  • Not seeing a newly created field when configuring routing nodes
  • Unable to find fields when creating mappings in LeanData Tagging.
  • Fields not appearing in dropdown menus or search results

This is a common occurrence which will typically resolve on its own after a while, but can also be resolved by a metadata refresh, which synchronizes LeanData's field information with your Salesforce instance.

How to perform metadata refresh?

A metadata refresh updates LeanData's information about your Salesforce objects. This process is necessary when recent changes to Salesforce objects, fields, or their characteristics are not reflected in the LeanData interface.

  1. Open a routing graph.
  2. Add a decision node to your graph (or use an existing one). An Update Record node will also work.
  3. In your decision node, create a new rule/condition.
  4. In the Object Field dropdown of your condition, type a string of characters that wouldn't match any field name.
  5. You will see a “No Suggestion Found” indicator and a circular Refresh Icon.
  6. Click the circular Refresh Icon.
  7. After a few moments, the metadata refresh will complete and the field will become visible—as long as you have permission to access it.

Note: This metadata refresh can also be performed from the Mapped Account fields interface in LeanData Tagging.
